WWE RAW Results: Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and CM Punk lock horns before main event, Cena and Rhodes are no-show | Hollywood News

WWE Monday Night RAW Results: As WrestleMania edges closer, tensions are bound to rise in the middle of the squared ring. The final Raw and Smackdown episodes just before the big day (two days in recent times) have given us some memorable moments over the years, which leave fans in anticipation and excitement for WrestleMania. In yesterday’s episode, a segment between Reigns, Rollins and Punk aimed to do just that, but that’s all that it did; it aimed.
Roman Reigns walked out to the centre with Paul Heyman his side and addressed the Sacramento crowd regarding his manager’s favour to Punk. While this is going on, Rollins interrupts (big surprise) and explains to the crowd how he is good for business and Reigns and Punk aren’t. He keeps up his rant until Reigns finally decides to shut him up and takes him out. Heyman celebrates at the sight of this, only to get shoved to the ground Roman, which automatically triggers the entry of Punk, who beats up Roman only to get curb-stomped Rollins a second time in the last week. The architect stood over his two opponents and Heyman, with the WrestleMania logo in the background, ready to fight for no belt, no money in the bank contract, no bragging rights and no shot at any title.

Moreover, throughout the promo, the only time the crowd were engaging with what was being said was when Reigns was on the mic. The ‘seemingly’ bad guy had a much better grip on his audience than Rollins, who delivered punchline after punchline only to receive confused silence. Should this really be the state of the crowd when we are less than a week out from WrestleMania?
Over the years, stars like Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena and The Rock earned every penny of their paycheque cutting nerve-racking promos in order to sell the ‘big match’, with some even going off-script in order to trigger a reaction from the crowd. For example, before getting their hands on each other at Wrestlemania 28, Cena and the Rock went toe to toe on the mic. The same promo had Cena accuse the Rock of scribbling notes for his promo on his wr, and the statement was a sizable crack in the proverbial fourth wall. But that match was for the WWE Championship; Rollins, Punk and Reigns are fighting over something which could have been handled on any random episode of the show.
Since WrestleMania started taking place over two days instead of one, there have always been two titles up for grabs in the main events. This time, however, one of the main events–the one featuring the aforementioned men – is for basically nothing, just who gets to call Paul Heyman their best friend between Reigns and Punk, with Rollins hanging on to save ‘the future of the company’. It is highly likely that whoever wins the match will go on to challenge the winner of the Rhodes vs Cena match for the WWE title in the future, which paints a rather grim picture for Reigns, who had the longest title streak in hory just a year ago, and it’s unlikely that he will be going for that title again this soon.
Heyman will be standing in Punk’s corner during WrestleMania, which means that the chances that he will betray his ‘best friend’ are now exponentially higher. Even this has happened before, when Heyman stabbed Punk in the back during MTB 2013. WWE has created a narrative which put the ‘wise man’ in a position from where he will be able to sabotage Punk. Before the favour, which was born out of some conversation that sounds more far-fetched than Jinder Mahal’s run as the WWE champion, Heyman was just not that important to the match, but now he is.Story continues below this ad

To speculate further, any one of these three men could have feuded with Cody Rhodes and fought for the WWE championship, but this being Cena’s final year, that spot was always going to go to him. With there being no sign of either Cena or Rhodes on Raw, it will be interesting to see if they show up at Smackdown on Friday, a night before Wrestlemania.
Wrestlemania 41 will take place in the Allegiant stadium in Las Vegas on April 19 and 20 and the event will be streamin live on Netflix.
