Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 set to launch in India today at 12PM, expected price above Rs 30,000

Xiaomi launched the Mi Mix 2 in China last month. Today, the company is set to announce the same phone with 6 gigs of RAM and 64GB of internal storage in India today. The launch event of the Mi Mix 2 is set to happen in New Delhi at 12 noon. Ahead of the launch, Xiaomi India has revealed that the upcoming phone and the successor of the original Mi Mix will be a Flipkart exclusive product. However, the company will reveal the availability date at the launch event today.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer will be announcing the bezel-less display flagship phone at an event set to happen in New Delhi today at 12PM. Xiaomi has been teasing a lot about the new Mi Mix 2, which is to succeed the Mi Mix. The company has confirmed that the device will be exclusively available on Flipkart.

To recall, Xiaomi initially announced the Mi Mix 2 in China last month. Alongside the Mi Mix 2, the company also announced the Mi Note 3 . However, as of now, there are no words if the Mi Note 3 will come to India any time soon. Today’s launch event will be livestreamed on the company site, and also on their YouTube channel.

Going by the specifications, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 was launched with the latest processor by Qualcomm, aka the Snapdragon 835, which also powers most the recently announced premium phones by other companies like the Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy S8, HTC U11, and also the OnePlus 5. The company, ahead of the India launch as confirmed that the same variant will come to India as well. This means, Mi Mix 2 India variant will be powered by Snapdragon 835. Xiaomi writes, “Mi MIX 2 comes with octa-core Snapdragon 835 with an advanced 10-nanometer design that ensures power along with efficiency!”

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will come with 4 sided curved ceramic body giving a premium feel and look. It also comes with scratch-resistant feature. The smartphone comes with a 5.99-inch full-HD LCD bezel-less display with 1080×2160 pixels resolution. It comes with an aspect ratio of 18:9.

Mi Mix 2 comes with 6 gigs of RAM. The device, in China, was launched in three storage variants – 64GB, 128GB and 256GB, which can be further expandable via microSD card. Xiaomi at the China launch event claimed that the Mi Mix 2 is smaller than the iPhone 7 Plus despite having such a large display. The device is backed by a 3,400mAh battery which comes along with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

In the camera department, the Mi Mix 2 sports a 12-megapixel Sony IMX382 sensor at the back, while on the front, the smartphone comes with a 5-megapixel sensor which further comes along with facial recognition support. There are also 4 – axis image stabilisation on board at the back.

On the connectivity front, the Mi Mix 2 comes with support for global LTE bands – 43 bands in total. It supports LTE 4, dual-band MIMo Wi-Fi, 4G + and more. The smartphone also supports the Bluetooth 5.0 standard and comes with a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.

Xiaomi Mi Mix price and availability
The bezel-less smartphone with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage comes at a price of RMB 3299 in China, which in India roughly translates to Rs 32,390. In India, Xiaomi is expected to announce the 64GB variant of the phone, and may not bring the 128 and 256GB models. At the launch, Xiaomi will announce the availability of the smartphone. The device will be a Flipkart exclusive product.
