Yuzi Chahal thanks AB de Villiers for advice: ‘My journey changed from 2014…Whenever I meet him, I thank him for that’
Yuzvendra Chahal became the top wicket taker in IPL hory when he regered a four-wicket haul against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Thursday in Rajasthan Royals’ nine-wicket win.
The leggie overtook Dwayne Bravo’s 182 wickets to lead the tally in the 16-year-hory of the league.
Speaking with Star Sports afterwards, Chahal would reveal the big shift in his IPL career, when he shifted franchises from Mumbai Indians to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
“My journey changed from 2014 when I arrived at RCB, and people realised my potential,” Chahal said. “I realised my dream during my time at RCB. In the first 2-3 years, I wasn’t as close to AB sir, I had inhibitions talking to him because he is a legend. But one night, we sat and talked for many hours. He said one word, ‘balance’. I asked, what do you mean balance?”
He added, “He said, everything should be in balance. Keep a balance in your personal and professional life. It shouldn’t be 60-40, always try to keep the right balance. That was one advice which helped me a lot. Whenever I meet him, I thank him for that advice.”
Chahal has 187 IPL wickets to his name in 144 outings over 11 seasons.
