A day after the passing of veteran actor and interior designer Zarine Khan, her daughter Farah Ali Khan took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute, calling her mother a truly “special woman.” Remembering Zarine’s kind and generous spirit, Farah wrote, “My mother, Zarine Khan, was a very special woman. Her philosophy of life was to ‘forgive and forget.’ She was kind-hearted, loved all her friends and family, and cared deeply for everyone around her.” Zarine was married to actor-filmmaker Sanjay Khan.
Farah went on to describe her mother as the emotional anchor of their family, adding, “Born a Parsi, married as a Muslim, and cremated according to Hindu rites — she epitomised humanity. She was the bond that held our family together, and her legacy is something we hope to live .” Zarine’s maiden name was Katrak.

In another Instagram Story, Farah shared a throwback video from a Mother’s Day celebration. In the clip, she can be heard telling her mother, “Mum, today on Mother’s Day, I want to tell you that I love you too much. You are the first love of my life and the last love of my life because I can’t imagine my life without you.”

Farah also expressed how deeply her mother influenced her everyday decisions as she wrote, “I don’t even paint a single room or wall in my house without my mother’s opinion.” The video shows an emotional Zarine responding, “I love you! All I can say is I love you from the bottom of my heart and beyond.”

Farah continued in the clip, “My mum is the reason I am who I am. She always taught us to love people more than things — because things can be replaced, people cannot. She used to say, ‘Beauty is what beauty does,’ and that true beauty comes from the heart, not just how you look.” Sharing the video, Farah simply captioned it, “Missing you, Mamma.”
Zarine Khan passed away on November 7 at the age of 81 following a cardiac arrest. She began her career as a model before featuring in films such as Tere Ghar Ke Samne and Ek Phool Do Mali. In 1966, she married actor-filmmaker Sanjay Khan.
Her last rites were performed on Thursday according to Hindu rituals, with her son Zayed Khan performing the final rites. The funeral was attended her children, former son-in-law Hrithik Roshan, and several members of the film fraternity.
