Zomato addresses woman’s ‘unfair’ container fee issue on Twitter | Trending

A woman in Ahmedabad ordered three plates of theplas priced at ₹60 each from a restaurant through Zomato. However, upon receiving her order and going through the bill, she realised she had been charged ₹60 for the food containers. Understandably, she was dissatisfied and took to Twitter to seek an explanation from the food delivery company. Alongside, she shared a snap of the bill. According to the bill, each plate of Dudhi Thepla was worth 60, and the container charge was also ₹60. Packaging charges are levied our restaurant partners, they are the ones who implement and earn from this practice.”To this, Thakkar replied and wrote, “I find the ₹60 container charge excessive and unfair. Shouldn’t it be the restaurant’s responsibility to provide containers without extra cost to customers?”Since being shared on August 2, the tweet has collected over 42,000 views.
