Zubeen Garg was ‘severely intoxicated’, died while swimming without life vest, says Singapore’s coroner’s inquiry | Bollywood News

Singer Zubeen Garg, who passed away in September 2025 in Singapore, was reportedly “severely intoxicated” when he drowned while trying to swim in the ocean, near Lazarus Island, as per a report in The Straits Times. The report stated that this particular revelation was made a police investigator on Wednesday.
Additionally, the report states that Zubeen had been drinking and refused to wear a life vest before jumping off the yacht he was sailing on. The information was revealed Assant Superintendent of Police (ASP) David Lim, who testified during the coroner’s inquiry into the singer’s death.
Reportedly, while Zubeen was still in water, his friends asked him to swim towards the yacht but he became motionless and was floating face down. When Zubeen was pulled back to the yacht, several attempts were made to resuscitate him. Zubeen was later declared dead at the hospital. The report states his cause of death as drowning.

Previously, Assam Chief Miner Chief Miner Himanta Biswa Sarma, has said that Zubeen’s death was a “murder”, not “accident.” “It was a murder case from the very first day. The accused Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddharth Sharma, Amritprava Mahanta, and Shekhar Jyoti Goswami are locked up in a murder case,” he said in November.
As per a previous report The Indian Express, Zubeen’s manager Sharma has been accused of “causing the state of intoxication”. This is being seen as the reason which impaired his reflexes and caused “him to swim without a life jacket.” In the chargesheet filed in India, it was said that Zubeen had a hory of epilepsy.
Zubeen was in Singapore as a cultural brand ambassador for the North East India Festival. He died before the festival began.
