12,616 Covid cases in Kerala, 134 deaths
After a brief lull, number of persons diagnosed with Covid-19 on a single day in Kerala shot up to 12,616 on Wednesday. This was stated by Minister of Health Veena George in her release to the media. Equally disturbing was the surging number of fatalities. The State logged 134 deaths on Wednesday taking the death toll till date to 25,811.
The department of health tested 98,782 during the last 24 hours, said the release by George. She said that out of the 1,22, 407 Covid-19 cases, only 11 per cent of the patients have been admitted to hospitals.
The minister said that by November all schools and colleges in the State would become fully functional. “We cannot be in a permanent lockdown mode all the time. The situation is conducive to reopen schools and colleges so that students could come to the campus,” said George.
“We will boycott all review meetings, VIP duty, LSGD meetings, e-Sanjeevani and all training programmes,” said Dr T N Suresh, general secretary, KGMOA, in a release.
