15 oxygen plants coming up in Bundelkhand: Yogi
During his visit to various districts of the Bundelkhand region, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared that 15 new oxygen plants were being set up there and six of which would come up in Jhansi.
“The ongoing wave of Covid is completely different from the first. The state did not face any oxygen shortage in the first wave but since the disastrous second wave hit the state, the demand for oxygen supply also increased and we faced a crisis. Learning a lesson, we are strengthening our system. Under these efforts, the Bundelkhand region will get 15 oxygen plants,” Yogi said on Sunday.
Holding a series of press conferences in Jhansi and Banda, the CM said that experts had predicted that UP would report around 1 lakh cases per day between April 25 and May 10 and the situation would be out of control.
“We reported around 38,000 cases on April 26, the maximum till date, and there has been a constant slide since then. In the last 24 hours, around 4,800 cases have been reported, a decline of 34,000 from the peak. The active cases have come down in the state from 3.10 lakh to 84,800 within just 22 days,” he pointed out.
Yogi also informed mediapersons about UP’s recovery rate, which has climbed to over 93%. The chief minister also said that efforts were being made on a war-footing to ensure that the pace of vaccinations picks up next month as vaccines will be administered to people in the 18-44 category in all 75 districts of the state from June 1. Currently, the vaccination under this category is underway in 23 UP districts.
The CM also said that there would be separate booths for media personnel in each district.
Giving updates on the vaccination, the CM further said that the state has so far administered over 1.62 crore doses to people. “Instructions have been given to vaccinate people in villages through the common service centres (CSCs),” the CM said.
Stressing on the importance of testing, the CM said UP has conducted the highest number of tests in the last 24 hours. Over 3.17 lakh tests were conducted on Saturday, which was a record in itself. So far, the state has conducted 4.67 crore Covid tests.
The CM also hailed the work of the surveillance committees in checking the corona spread in rural areas. The CM also went on a visit to a village where he asked about the well-being of people. He also visited Gandhi Nagar gram panchayat of Badagaon development block in Jhansi where he interacted with members of the surveillance committees.
Yogi then interacted with an ANM worker and asked him regarding the medical facilities and functioning of the committees. Satisfied with the commitment shown by frontline workers, the CM congratulated everyone working in the village.
He also talked about ‘Mera Gaon: Corona Mukt Gaon’ and urged the villagers to take part in this exercise and make their village Covid-free. The chief minister said people coming from outside should be compulsorily tested for Covid. He directed the officials concerned to carry out sanitisation exercises in the village from time to time. He also said that medicines should be given to all the patients.
