Main trophy jeetke ek saal aur khelunga: Suresh Raina reveals what MS Dhoni told him of his IPL future
With speculations being made on whether or not this is MS Dhoni’s last Indian Premier League season, his former Chennai Super Kings teammate Suresh Raina has revealed that the long time CSK skipper is not looking at IPL 2023 as his farewell season.
Speaking on JioCinema, Raina revealed what the 41-year-old said to him in their recent meeting during the ongoing IPL season. “Main trophy jeetke ek saal aur khelunga (After winning the trophy, I will play one more year).”
Dhoni, who’s led CSK to four IPL titles, has skippered the side to a second spot with 13 points after 11 games this season.
Earlier, ahead of the game against Lucknow, Danny Morrison had enquired of the Chennai captain, “This wonderful swansong tour, your last, how are you enjoying it?” to which Dhoni swiftly responded, “Well, you have decided it’s my last.” “You hear that, he is going to come back again next year,” Morrison would say on-air gesturing towards the crowd in the stands at the Ekana International Stadium.
Dhoni has been featuring solely in the IPL after he retired from international cricket back in 2020.
After one of CSK’s wins at Chepauk this season, the former India captain had also left fans guessing with a last dance-hinting quote, “Whatever said and done, last phase of my career, important to enjoy it.”
