Yuzvendra Chahal becomes highest wicket-taker in IPL hory
Rajasthan Royals bowler Yuzvendra Chahal scripted hory in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday when he became the leading wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League with 184 scalps.
Chahal leapfrogged former Chennai Super Kings’ player Dwayne Bravo (183) when he dismissed KKR skipper Nitish Rana off the 2nd delivery of the 11th over. He would also add to his tally when he sent back a well-set Venkatesh Iyer for 57 as well as snapping up Shardul Thakur’s wicket, both in the 17th over.
“I never thought when I came into the IPL with MI that I’ll get here. I’m here because of all the support I’ve got along the way with family and friends. Definitely grateful to all,” Chahal said in the mid-innings break.

“On this ground, I didn’t want to give easy boundaries. Wanted to keep the ball away from the batters. The pitch was slow and aiding me. I hope we can win today, the batters should be able to get the runs,” Chahal said in the mid-innings break,” he added.
On Sunday, Chahal on Sunday had become the joint-highest wicket taker during the side’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Chahal, on Sunday night had finished with an impressive spell of 4/29 in four overs at an economy of 7.20. He had achieved the feat with SRH skipper Aiden Markaram’s wicket.
Meanwhile, other bowlers who have most wickets to their credits in the hory of the Indian Premier League are Piyush Chawla (174 wickets), Amit Mishra (172 wickets) and Ravichandran Ashwin (171 wickets).
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson opted to bowl against Kolkata Knight Riders after winning the toss in their must-win IPL clash.
Kiwi speedster Trent Boult returned replacing left-arm speedster Kuldip Yadav, while KM Asif was brought in for Murugan Ashwin in two changes for RR.
KKR opted for a three-pronged spin attack including left-arm spinner Anukul Roy in place of seamer Vaibhav Arora. KKR have three front-line spinners in Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Suyash Sharma, while skipper Nitish Rana is also a part-time off-spinner.
