Rohit Sharma reveals reason behind his gesture towards Ishan Kishan before declaration
Moments before declaring Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was seen agitated and was seen signaling something to debutant Ishan Kishan on the third day of the first Test against West Indies in Dominica on Friday.
After that Kishan, who was playing cautiously till that point and was not off the mark in first 19 balls played an unorthodox shot on the legside to get his first Test run. After the single the captain declared.
Rohit after the game revealed, “I was just letting them know we have an over or so before declaring. I wanted Ishan to get off the mark, wanted to tell him to get his personal mark and then we had to declare. I could see that he was always eager to bat, it could be frustrating for them.”

Rohit also has heaped praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal after his match-winning 171-run knock. “He has the talent, he has shown us in the past that he is ready. Came and batted sensibly. The temperament was also tested, at no stage he was panicking,” he said.
India beat West Indies an innings and 141 runs on the third day. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up seven wickets in the second innings and ended up with 12 wickets in the game. “I would like to start saying it was a great effort with the ball,” Rohit said.
“Getting them out for 150 set the game for us. We knew batting would get tough, it wasn’t easy to score runs. We knew we wanted to bat only once and bat long. Get over 400 runs and then came out and bowled really well,” he added.
