A day after Union Minister Smriti Irani’s scathing accusations of ‘Manipur’ arson, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hit back, questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s handling of the ethnic clashes lasted three months in the state and attributed the conflict to the ideology of the ruling party .
In a video shared by Parliament on social media, Mr. Gandhi retorted: “Why doesn’t he talk about Manipur? It’s because Narendra Modi ji has nothing to do with Manipur. They know that their ideology has changed. burned Manipur”.
The heated exchange follows Ms Irani’s accusations against the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, where she accused opposition parties, including Gandhi, of keeping silent about crimes against women in different countries. The country is not ruled by the BJP. Ms. Irani did not fire a shot, accusing Gandhi of sparking unrest in Manipur.

However, Mr. Gandhi took the blame, accusing the BJP and their ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of “power hungry” and divisive.
He made the remark during a virtual Youth Congress program, that: “BJP-RSS just wants to have power and can do anything to get it. For power, they will burn Manipur, they will burn the whole country. They don’t care about the pain and suffering of the country.”
The Congress Party shared excerpts from Gandhi’s fiery speech on its Twitter account. It comes as the opposition, led by the National Assembly, is increasingly demanding a statement from the Prime Minister on the situation in Manipur, followed by an in-depth discussion on the matter.
