Having impressed with his swashbuckling batting style in the first T20I – his India debut – Tilak Varma one upped his batting efforts in the second T20I on Sunday as the southpaw scored a maiden T20I fifty and being the leading run scorer in India’s 152/7.
Coming in to bat at four, Tilak went on to score 51 off 40 deliveries in an innings laced with five fours and one maximum.
Earlier, having won the toss, Hardik Pandya opted to bat first in Guyana. West Indies would nab early wickets in the powerplay with both Shubman Gill (7) and Suryakumar Yadav (1) falling in the powerplay. After Ishan Kishan (27) was trapped in the 10th over, Sanju Samson (7) followed suit as well.

Tilak would then add 38 runs for the sixth wicket along with Hardik Pandya (24) before another flurry of wickets left tailenders Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi at crease in the final over.
Arshdeep would edge one for four down fine leg while Bishnoi smacked one over long on for a six to take India across the 150 mark.
India currently trail in the five-match T20I series after the Windies won the first game four runs.
