Rahul Gandhi starts debate of no confidence today, 5 ministers on center list

The opposition’s motion of no confidence against the government of Narendra Modi will be presented to parliament today – in the absence of the Prime Minister. Rahul Gandhi of Congress, newly reinstated in parliament, will open the debate,

The BJP convened a congressional party meeting on Tuesday ahead of the no-confidence motion, which could be discussed, answered and voted on on Wednesday and Thursday.

The petition, with little chance of passing, is the opposition’s backdoor way of forcing the Prime Minister to speak out about the ongoing violence in Manipur, which has dominated the rainy season parliament session. .

The session, which started on July 20, was repeatedly interrupted by the opposition’s objections. Only a few bills on the government’s long list have passed. The opposition demanded discussion on Manipur, calling it the hot issue of the day. The government agreed, but made it clear that the prime minister would not address the issue before the House of Commons – which is the main demand of the opposition.

Five ministers will speak during the debate – Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kiren Rijiju. Five other BJP MPs will also participate in the debate.
