Pakan cricket team chief selector and former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq left everyone in splits at a press briefing to announce the team for the ICC World Cup 2023.
Pakan went with Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan as their main spin options which compelled a reporter to compare their statics with that of India spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who had a fabulous outing at the recently-concluded Asia Cup. In comparison, Nawaz and Shadab had quite a poor outing at the continental event, in which India emerged triumphant, beating Sri Lanka 10 wickets in the final.
Inzamam, in a style that’s become his own, said that while the statics were correct, he couldn’t select Kuldeep for Pakan as he plays for India, a response that left everyone in splits.
“You have come up with some good stats on both bowlers but let me say that I cannot select Kuldeep Yadav…for me that’s an issue as he is from another team,” he told reporters.

Fast bowler Naseem Shah who suffered an injury during the recently concluded Asia Cup is not part of Pakan’s Cricket World Cup squad. Veteran pacer Hasan Ali however, has made a comeback into the Cricket World Cup squad. Babar Azam will lead the Pakan team at the World Cup while Shadab Khan will be his deputy.
