Rahul Gandhi visits Maoist hotbed of Bastar
RAIPUR: The Maoist hotbed of Bastar was cloaked under tight security cover as Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi arrived at Jagdalpur on Friday afternoon on a two-day visit to the state.
Thousands of NSUI members and Congress workers thronged the airport despite the security to welcome Rahul as he landed around 3.45pm. Only a handful of leaders were allowed to meet him.
He headed for the resort where he is putting up and had a series of meetings with party leaders, Maoist victims and representatives of chambers of commerce. Congress leaders refused to say anything on the agendas to be discussed during Rahul’s visit and his schedule.
Leadr of Opposition T S Singhdeo accused the BJP-government of not letting people meet Rahul in the name of security.
