Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL 2024 Final Playing 11: The top two sides from the group stage, KKR and SRH, will meet once again as the vye for an elusive title in the IPL 2024 final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.
While KKR had the edge in the Qualifier 1 encounter in Ahmedabad, the Sunrisers bounced back with a 36-run win over Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2 encounter in Chennai on Friday. While the odds will be against the Orange Army with only a day’s break between the two games, KKR will be wary of the potent batting depth of Pat Cummins’ side.
Early indicators commentators during the Qualifier 2 match have suggested that pitch for the final will resemble ‘Mumbai-type red-soil wicket’ which could host a lot of runs.

Phillips for Markram?
The Sunrisers were subdued a Mitchell Starc charge in the Qualifier 1 contest where the top-order fell like a pack of cards. Back into the side for the Qualifier 2 against RR, Aiden Markram fell tamely for one off two deliveries batting at number four. While he has not played through the entire season, the Sunrisers could ring in a surprise opting for Glenn Phillips in place of Markram on a batting belter.
Unadkat or Umran?
With the pitch likely to offer Wankhede-like conditions, SRH will be wary of their bowling composition on Sunday. Sunrisers were taken to the cleaners Mumbai Indians in similar conditions earlier this month and Cummins would face a toss-up between the variations of Jaydev Unadkat and Umran Malik. Although Umran has played just a solitary game this season, the seamer’s extra pace and hit-the-deck lengths could extract certain weaknesses in the KKR lineup.

With the run of form that they have had, unbeaten in five completed games, KKR are likely to retain the same composition that they have used over the last few weeks. Mitchell Starc’s return to wicket-taking form alongside seamers Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora and Andre Russell offer plenty of options. Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy’s control in the middle-overs will be crucial against the likes of Heinrich Klaasen in the middle-overs.
