WTC Points Table after IND-NZ 3rd Test: India lose top spot after series whitwash in Mumbai, Australia first | Cricket News
India suffered their first-ever home series whitewash in a three-match Test series, losing the third Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai 26 runs on Sunday.
The defeat at Mumbai meant it was the first time India had suffered a Test series white-wash at home, comprising at least three matches. Last week in Pune, New Zealand had become only the third team after Australia (2004) and England (2012) to record a Test series win in India in the 21st century (since January 1, 2001).
Rohit Sharma’s side cannot afford another loss in their remaining five games to reach the WTC final on their own terms. With five wins in Australia, India can at best finish on 158 points with a points PCT of 69.29.
