Harry Kane smashes Erling Haaland’s record, scores fastest 50 Bundesliga goals | Football News
England’s Harry Kane smashed Erling Haaland’s Bundesliga record on Friday, becoming the fastest player to reach 50 Bundesliga goals.
Kane scored a hat-trick in Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over Augsburg, his seventh treble since moving to Germany. The hat-trick took him to 14 league goals for the season and in doing so, extended Bayern’s lead at the top to eight points but saw him smash Haaland’s previous mark.
They came with two second-half penalties, dispatched in his usual clinical manner, before taking the matchball at the death when an outrageous piece of control from Leon Goretzka’s cross allowed him to head home into an empty net.
In doing so, the England captain surpassed a record previously set Haaland when he was at Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian scored his 50th Bundesliga goal in his 50th game inthe league in November 2021, beating Timo Konietzka’s previous record nine matches.
Kane has been in imperious form since joining Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023 and it took him only 43 games to score 50 goals in the German top flight. The 31-year-old has also regered 14 asss in those matches.
Despite Kane’s 36 league goals — 44 in all competitions – last season, Bayern ended the campaign trophyless, finishing third and 18 points behind the undefeated champions Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.
Bayern have a busy schedule coming up with PSG in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday before the trip to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga in a week. It caps off its 11-day four-match run with the German Cup last-16 clash at home to holder Bayer Leverkusen on December 3.
