Two cops held for raping Chhattisgarh woman

RAIPUR: Two constables were arrested on Monday for raping a 20-year-old girl near the Vidhan Sabha here after extorting money from the survivor and her male friend. A case of rape and extortion was lodged against the accused and they were suspended.
The survivor lodged a police complaint on Sunday, alleging that the two cops – identified as Hiralal Nirmalkar and Tikaram Tarak – confronted them at a place on December 7. Tikaram beat up her friend and took him away, leaving the survivor with Hiralal, who threatened and raped her, the complaint said.
Hiralal demanded 10,000, she alleged. Since her friend had 5,000, Hiralal took her number for the remaining amount, she said. As Hiralal made several calls for 5000, she recorded the conversations and lodged the complaint at the Vidhan Sabha police station.
