Royal Challengers Bengaluru COO believes there ‘4-5 leaders’ in squad who can take over captaincy | Cricket News
Faf du Plessis has led Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the last three years. However, in the recently concluded auction in November, the franchise has not exercised the Right To Match option after not retaining him.
Going into the 2025 season RCB has not named their leader yet. There have been rumours about Virat Kohli leading the side yet again which RCB’s COO Rajesh Menon mentioned.
“Currently we have not decided anything. We have multiple leaders in the team. 4-5 leaders are there. We have not deliberated on what we need to do. We will deliberate, and we will come to a conclusion,” Menon said in an interview with Sports Tak.

In addition to the captaincy question, there have also been mixed responses on social media to the players they have brought. “We were very clear in terms of what kind of gaps we have and what all we need to fulfill and what is the Indian core that we require to build, and if you want to play in M Chinnaswamy (Stadium), what kind of bowling attack we require. And that is what we did,” said Menon.
“If you see Day 1, it was low-key for us. People thought we were not participating in the auction, but at the end of Day 2, everybody, right from fans to experts, felt saying what we have done is the best because we have covered all the gaps, and I think we have got one of the best teams,” Menon added.
RCB full squad: Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Yash Dayal, Josh Hazlewood, Phil Salt, Jitesh Sharma, Liam Livingstone, Rasikh Dar, Suyash Sharma, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Swapnil Singh, Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Nuwan Thushara, Manoj Bhandage, Jacob Bethel
