John Abraham praises Shah Rukh Khan’s unmatched understanding of cinema; calls Akshay Kumar a ‘rockstar’ | Bollywood News

As Bollywood sees fewer comedy films being made, John Abraham is working towards developing one himself. The actor recently opened up about his love for the genre, his collaborations with Akshay Kumar in comedies like Housefull 2 and Garam Masala, and his bond with Pathaan co-star Shah Rukh Khan.
In a conversation with Zoon, John revealed that he is working with The Diplomat director Shivam Nair to develop a comedy film. “The idea is to create content, and the end of it, if someone says, ‘Hey John, you seem to have written this, but you’re not the right guy for it,’ then we get someone who is. But I love doing comedies,” he said.
Expressing his desire to reunite with Akshay Kumar for a comedy, John Abraham shared, “He is a rockstar, and we have a lot of fun together. In Housefull 2, there’s this really funny scene where we fall down a waterfall. Just before that, we hug and say, ‘We are friends.’ That was completely impromptu. We just do things on the spot, and the cameras roll.”

John also confirmed that he was approached for Housefull 5 but turned it down. “There’s a better space reserved for me somewhere else. But I would love to do Garam Masala with Akshay again,” he added.
Reflecting on his long-standing connection with Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham recalled how their bond dates back to his modeling days. “When I won a competition back then, the judges were Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, and Karan Johar. So working with Shah Rukh in Pathaan was like life coming full circle for me. He is a beautiful human being—very well-read and someone who understands cinema like no one else. We had a great time on set. We shot a lot of fight sequences, but in between takes, we’d sit down for tea and coffee and then go back to fighting. It was one of the nicest experiences I’ve had,” he said.
