IPL 2025 Playoffs qualification scenarios for all teams

IPL 2025 Playoffs Qualification Scenarios: The race for the IPL 2025 Playoffs is heating up with only a fortnight of league-stage action. With 19 games left in the league, eight of 10 teams are still mathematically in the Playoffs qualification race, with former champions Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals being the only two teams to be eliminated. However, the competition is cut-throat in the top half of the standings, with at least three teams standing a chance to touch 20 points or more.
While Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans have reached 14 points, a checkpoint that determined at least one Playoffs spot last year, the top four for this season are yet to be ascertained. With MI, GT and Royal Challengers Bengaluru holding simultaneous possibilities of reaching 20 points, the Playoffs cut-off could shore up to at least 18 points this season.

A top of the table clash against Gujarat could probably seal the firm front-runner for the top spot in the points table. On a six-match winning spree, MI can extend their winning run to nine with wins in their remaining games and shore up to as high as 20 points. To confirm qualification, MI will need to win at least two games.
Gujarat Titans
Remaining fixtures: v MI (away), v DC (away), v LSG, v CSK
Even if they are to lose their upcoming away game in Mumbai, GT can tally 20 points with wins in their other three matches. If a spotless win streak is to continue, the Titans can go even further up to 22 points and mark the top spot. Like Mumbai, GT too might need to win at least two of the remaining games to breach the cut-off mark.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Remaining fixtures: – v CSK, v LSG (away), v SRH, v KKRStory continues below this ad
With no matches left against MI or GT, RCB can cut a straight path to 22 points should they win all of their remaining games which includes three home matches. Despite concerns at the Chinnaswamy, RCB will be confident of earning a Playoffs spot should they win at least two more games to reach 18 points.
Punjab Kings
Remaining fixtures:– v LSG, v DC, v MI, v RR (away)
Punjab will go up against direct competitors Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in the upcoming games and will need to walk away with at least two wins to remain in the race. That would still leave them one short of the potential cut-off mark at 18 points before their final match against RR.
Delhi Capitals
Remaining fixtures:– v SRH (away), v PBKS (away), v GT, v MI (away)Story continues below this ad
Taking on three top 4 teams in their upcoming matches, Delhi Capitals find themselves in a tight spot after squandering their positive start to the campaign in recent matches. Down to 12 points in 10 matches, DC can still reach 20 points should they win all games. That would also mean the eventual cut-offs could trim even below 18 points, but Axar Patel’s men can only rest assured if they rack up three more wins, at least.
Lucknow Super Giants
Remaining fixtures:– v PBKS (away), v RCB, v GT (away), v SRH
Down to sixth place with 10 points, LSG will need to win all four games to stand a chance to make the Playoffs race tight and a matter of Net Run Rate qualification at 18 points.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Remaining fixtures:– v RR, v CSK, v SRH (away), v RCB (away)Story continues below this ad
With no matches left against the top 2 of MI and GT, KKR can only target at best one of the last two spots in the Playoffs. They can jump to 17 points with wins in all games, but will also have to hope that RCB, PBKS and LSG do not win more than two games in their remaining outings.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Remaining fixtures:– v DC, v KKR, v RCB (away), v LSG (away)
Living on the brink of mathematical possibilities after their latest defeat to GT are 2024 runners-up, SRH. Pat Cummins and Co. can move up to 14 points with a resurgence in their last four matches. That could still prove to be a little too late in the Playoffs race as at least four teams can comfortably cross 14 points with at least one win in their remaining fixtures.
