Shah Rukh Khan admits he was so nervous, he could’ve ‘run away from Met Gala’; says he went just for Aryan and Suhana: ‘Dad did his thing’ | Bollywood News

Shah Rukh Khan arrived at the 2025 Met Gala, walking the ‘blue carpet’, serving black dandyism in bespoke Saasachi couture, decked in “Tasmanian superfine wool with monogrammed, Japanese horn buttons,” dripping gold, and striking his iconic pose. But as confident as the actor looked on the outside, he admitted he could’ve run away at any moment because he was so nervous about the gala. Speaking to The New York Times, who described him as “a legend, surprisingly modest in person,” the Pathaan star said he’s actually very shy. In a separate interview, he revealed he accepted the invite just for the sake of his kids. While the world waited with bated breath for his debut, here’s what the star himself thinks about showing up at the Metropolitan Art Centre.

SRK reveals he was ‘very nervous’ ahead of the Met Gala
“I’ve never been nervous like this,” the Bollywood star said ahead of making a horic debut at the annual haute couture fundraising festival. “I’m wondering if I can run away from this now,” he added. SRK, who has been led as the 4th richest actor in the world, above Hollywood A-lers like Brad Pitt and George Clooney, in Esquire magazine’s latest edition, said he’s not someone you’d call a fashion devotee. “I’m a jeans-and-T-shirt person,” he said. But the interviewer was quick to notice how he spent a full 24 hours out of his 72-hour stay in the Big Apple, going through Saks and Bergdorf Goodman, just to track down “that one perfect pair” of jeans.

During his Met walk, the 59-year-old repeatedly mentioned how comfortable he was in his designer fit, probably because the one thing missing from his outfit was what makes him the most uncomfortable: shoulder pads. Speaking to The New York Times, Saasachi Mukherjee said the actor doesn’t like those add-ons “that make him look like an aeroplane.”
SRK says he attended the Met Gala for kids
Shah Rukh, who rarely graces any red carpet, surprised fans with his walk at the Anna Wintour-hosted charity gala. The theme was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, and the actor, for decades, has been pulling off this style with ease and his magical charm. But he wasn’t as excited as much as his kids were. While speaking to Vogue’s correspondent during the red carpet walk, SRK was asked about his hory-creating moment, to which he replied he wasn’t even aware this was going down in hory. In fact, he said it was Saasachi Mukherjee who convinced him to come after a back-and-forth “wow-and-wow” session upon receiving the invite.

Later, the actor said, “I’ve not done too many red carpets, I’m very shy. For me, this is the first time.” SRK added that his kids, especially the older ones, Aryan and Suhana, were a lot more excited. “For me, the most exciting thing is that I have little kids who are excited about Met. I don’t know if I would have come here on my own, but when Saa suggested that I should come, they went ‘wow,’ so I still don’t know, is it ‘Wow, they called you?’ or ‘Wow, you’ll be good on it’?” Apart from SRK, this year also marked the debut appearances of Kiara Advani and singer Diljit Dosanjh at the prestigious red carpet.
