Saaho box office collection Day 4: Prabhas’ film going strong, now less than Rs 7 crore short of Rs 100 crore

Given the negative reviews that it received upon its release, a number of trade pundits had expected Saaho to die down at the box office. On the contrary, the action thriller has performed remarkably well and is nearing the Rs 100 crore-mark after a four-day run in cinemas. The Hindi version of the Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer, “aided” by the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday, added Rs 14.20 crore more to its kitty on Monday. Its total collection, after a four-day run in cinemas, stands at Rs 93.28 crore.

Movie critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, in a Tuesday tweet, summed up the business of Saaho. Mr Adarsh wrote, “#Saaho collects in double digits on Day 4, aided by #GaneshChaturthi holiday [some parts of #India]… Mass centres strong… Tue-Thu biz crucial… #Saaho Fri 24.40 cr, Sat 25.20 cr, Sun 29.48 cr, Mon 14.20 cr. Total: ₹ 93.28 cr Nett BOC. #India biz. #Hindi version.”

Keeping in view the current trend, Saaho will go past the Rs 100 crore-mark on Tuesday itself. And while there is good chance that the film will cross the Rs 150 crore-mark, its entry into the Rs 200 crore-club looks dubious. Nevertheless, the Hindi version has turned out to be undeniably successful.

Saaho, made on a staggering budget of nearly Rs 350 crore, also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Jackie Shroff, Mahesh Manjrekar, Chunky Panday, Arun Vijay, Murali Sharma and Mandira Bedi in important roles, among others. It is written and directed by Sujeeth. The team took more than two years to complete the film.

A joint production venture between UV Creations and T-Series, Saaho has released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam languages across the world. It is also available in the IMAX format.
