Collective efforts helped in bringing down corona cases: Yogi

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that being the most populous state in the country, Uttar Pradesh faced numerous challenges to overcome the pandemic but with the support of representatives, administrators and district officials, it successfully achieved a sharp dip in the positivity rate in a span of a few days.

Yogi visited Lakhimpur Kheri to oversee preparedness to combat the viral inection spread. It is amongst the largest districts of lowland in terms of areas, but has the least number of active cases (1,400) with a positivity rate of just 4 per cent, as on Friday.

“Experts had predicted that UP would report over 1 lakh cases between April 25 and May 10 but due collective efforts, the government scaled down the numbers from 38,000 to 7,000 in the past 20 days. A massive campaign was launched both in rural and urban areas which helped in reducing the cases across the state. Until April 30, corona cases were increasing in the state, positivity rate was high and recovery rate was low. But in the last 20 days, as many as 2.04 lakh people have recovered and discharged from hospitals across the state,” he said

“In order to curb the spread of coronavirus infections in villages, a campaign named ‘Mera Gaon Corona Mukt Gaon’ was launched and the first three villages that become Corona-free, will be rewarded by the state government. Also, an additional financial aid will be provided to these villages for their development,” he said.

The chief minister ordered Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the state to help the people of remote areas in registering for Covid vaccination. These centres will provide the registration facility to the citizens free of cost. Officials have been told to make medical aids and facilities available to people with the help of public representatives.

“Among the districts that I have visited so far, the representatives of Lakhimpur have given their best support for the setting up of oxygen plant. Everyone has made all possible efforts to establish oxygen plants in their assembly, parliamentary constituency, district hospital and CHC. I urge people to strictly follow corona curfew as complete lockdown was avoided to make sure that livelihood was not hit,” he said.
