Yogi govt to make women aware of their legal rights
Continuing its thrust on pro-women, pro-rural and pro-poor initiatives, the Yogi Adityanath government has laid special emphasis on the welfare of women and empowerment of the daughters in Uttar Pradesh.
Understanding the importance of the untapped energy of women in the state, the UP government has worked in a planned and phased manner towards achievement of the goal of women empowerment through the effective implementation of its various women-centric schemes and policies at the grassroots level in the state.
According to an official communiqué released on Sunday evening, through Mission Shakti, the Yogi government has given a 360 degree umbrella to half the population of the state as now the hard work and dedication of rural women were bearing desired results with the females of the state coming to the front and leading by example in various spheres of development.
Under Mission Shakti, the government is not only working to ensure their safety, dignity and empowerment but also has been roping various measures to make them aware of their rights. Women and daughters in the state are being made aware through various programmes held every month by the Women Welfare department.
In September, women and daughters will be made aware of their legal rights by the department, under which by September 21, information about various laws and provisions related to violence against women and children will be conveyed to them. Awareness campaigns will be conducted at the level of gram sabhas on issues of harassment of women and children, domestic violence, drug abuse, trafficking, child marriage, discrimination, child labour and other forms of exploitation. Programmes will be organised in the gram sabhas of different blocks by forming different teams.
‘Swavalamban Camp’ will be organised on September 9: Apart from making women aware through the programmes organised by the department, work is being done to directly connect them with the schemes of the state government. Through the Swavalamban Camp organised in August, along with giving information about welfare schemes such as Destitute Women Pension Scheme, Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana, applications for schemes have also been accepted. As many as 6,314 applications were received for Kanya Sumangala Yojana out of which 4,489 have been accepted. Similarly, under the destitute women pension scheme, 2,002 applications were received and 1,264 of them have been accepted. Under Mukhya Mantri Bal Seva Yojana, 399 applications were received, out of which 187 were approved, with this,169 general applications also came under the Mukhya Mantri Bal Seva Yojana.
The Swavalamban Camp being organised on September 9 will be a unique effort in itself where the applicant, verification officer and approval officer will come together on a single platform to complete the process in a day.
Besides, a mega programme will be organised at every gram sabha level, under which sessions will be held for generating awareness and solutions will be discussed on all issues faced by children and women. Along with making people aware through street plays, the plays will also popularise various women welfare schemes of the government.
Director, Women and Child Welfare, Manoj Rai, said that the state government was committed to ensuring the safety, dignity and empowerment of women through Mission Shakti, the positive results of which were now being seen. He said along with organising various programmes for women, work was also being done to connect women and daughters with the schemes of the government.
