CM lays foundation stone medical college in Bijnor
Fulfilling the long-pending demand of the local population, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of a medical college in Bijnor.
The Rs 281-crore medical college would be ready in 18 months, the chief minister announced. He said it would be named after Mahatma Vidur.
Addressing a well-attended public meeting on this occasion, the chief minister said after this medical college, the youth of Bijnor would not have to travel to Delhi, Lucknow and Meerut for medical studies. Besides, he said, it would cater to a large population of Bijnor and its surrounding areas for modern healthcare.
“Post-Independence, UP could set up only 12 government medical colleges. In contrast, our government provided good health facilities to the public with 32 new medical colleges built between 2017 and 2021,” he said.
The chief minister said the long-pending demand of the local people and the public representatives had been met. He said that development works worth Rs 1,426 crore had already been done here while development works worth the same cost were under process.
Yogi said that before 2017, on the occasion of any festivals, riots and clashes used to take place. He said the previous governments used to play with the faith of the people and even the Kanwar Yatra was banned but after 2017 there was not even a single riot in UP.
He said illegal slaughterhouses were closed and the rioters were warned that their property would be confiscated and they would be fined heavily.
Earlier, the chief minister was in Moradabad to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs 69.58 crore.
Coming down hard on the opposition, the chief minister said that during the previous governments, development was confined to a ‘single family’ and even now the opposition was working to cause hindrance in the development of the state.
“Before 2017, the government was engaged in the development of a single family. Saifai was everything to them. Corruption was rampant in the development schemes and recruitments, but today the whole of UP is developing and 42 lakh poor have been given housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana,” the chief minister said.
In an event organised at the Thakurdwara assembly constituency, the chief minister distributed certificates and cheques to the beneficiaries of various schemes of 13 departments.
Highlighting the infrastructure work done in the state, the chief minister said that earlier there were no roads in villages, there was no difference between the field and the road but today, roads of hot mix plants were being constructed in villages.
The chief minister said that development was the sole criterion of good governance. “A corrupt government ruins the life of the common man. The BJP has brought development to Uttar Pradesh. Moradabad’s public representatives are transforming the city through development schemes,” he added/
“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP has become self-sufficient in oxygen production. Moradabad has two oxygen plants in working condition today,” he said.
The chief minister also mentioned that it was because of the developed health infrastructure in Moradabad and Ghaziabad that people came from Delhi here for treatment during COVID-19n pandemic.
“Since the COVID-19 period, the government is giving free ration to the people of UP, whereas the previous governments ate the ration of the poor,” he said.
The chief minister said that earlier in the western UP, the morale of criminals was too high, families used to be worried about the safety of their daughters and girls could not go to school but now, the picture had changed.
“The criminals are demoralised due to the zero-tolerance policy of the government. Daughters in Uttar Pradesh are safe. The government has worked to make women self-reliant. Over 20,000 daughters were recruited in the police department. Along with being self-reliant, the women of UP are also curbing the crime today,” he said.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the land lease matters of those people who came from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan in 1947 were still pending. He said the previous governments did nothing in this regard but now this problem would be resolved soon.
