Yogi gives cops 100 days to improve law & order, image

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed the Home department to set priorities under the 100-day action plan and take action expeditiously. Yogi Adityanath said that from April 2, under Mission Shakti Abhiyan, women’s safety should be monitored more effectively and actively by conducting special campaigns in schools, colleges, markets and crowded places.

The chief minister was addressing a high-level review meeting convened in connection with the 100 days action plan of the Home department at his official residence here late on Thursday night.

He said that security, law and order and good governance were the priority of the state government. As per the chief minister’s directive, security arrangements should be further improved at all the religious centres and important places of the state.

Besides, in the coming one year, proper establishment of police lines should be ensured in all the districts. Police officers of all levels should do foot patrolling daily and the patrolling of PRV-112 should be conducted effectively on a regular basis and the traffic system should be made more efficient.

A clean environment should be created in the police stations and proper arrangement for seating and drinking water should be made for the general public. Public grievances should be dealt with priority. The image of the police in the general public should be further improved.

The chief minister said that taking strict action against criminals and mafia, demolition and confiscation of illegal properties should be ensured. He said no concession should be made to mining, liquor, animal, forest and land mafias, including professional criminals.

Yogi said all senior officers should make field visits. He said that the work of setting up fire service at all tehsil headquarters should be completed by including it among the priorities of 100 days. He said that action should be taken by effectively operating the functioning of the Anti Corruption Unit and Vigilance Unit.

The chief minister said that the women beat police officers posted at each gram panchayat and ward level should take action for publicity of women crime control and development schemes through inter-departmental coordination. He said crime should be controlled by establishing dialogue with village watchmen in rural areas. He directed the officials to complete the construction works expeditiously for the establishment of three PAC Women Battalions.

While directing that the proceedings of prosecution of crimes related to women should be expeditious and effective, Yogi said that regular reviews should be done in this regard in coordination with the district monitoring committee.

He said that there should be mutual coordination in the working of Intelligence, Special Task Force and Anti-Terrorists Squad. The chief minister said that accountability of police officers at every level should be fixed.

And work should be done by adopting the policy of zero tolerance towards crime and criminals and corruption.

While identifying top 10 criminals at each police station and district level and directing police to take strict action against them, Yogi said that reviews should be done regarding the charge-sheets and action should be ensured under the UP Gangsters Act and Goonda Act.

The chief minister said action should be taken to control crime by emphasising on the use of technology.
