Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has pointed out the “terrible quality” of government schools in Chhattisgarh to his INDIA bloc partner Congress.
Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh goes to elections this year. Soon after Mr. Kejriwal’s comments, Congress leader Pawan Khera asked Mr. Kejriwal about the need to compare Chhattisgarh and Delhi when compared to the previous Raman Singh government in Chhattisgarh. The debate again raised questions about the unity of the newly formed opposition group INDIA, which includes the AAP and the Congress.

We are not politicians, we are just ordinary people like you.” said Mr. Kejriwal, referring to the ideology of the party he co-founded, which became the Indian common word for his name. At an event in Raipur, Mr Kejriwal promised free electricity to up to 300 units in Chhattisgarh if AAP forms the government. He was accompanied by party colleague and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
This was not the first time that two members of the INDIA bloc had exchanged passive-aggressive words over state election battle plans. Congress leader Alka Lamba’s statement on Thursday that the party has asked its leaders to prepare to contest all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi next year has sparked a row with the AAP.
