Akhilesh hits at out at Centre for Covid mismanagement
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday hit out at the Centre for the “mismanagement of Covid-19 pandemic”, saying that the country’s image has been tarnished. In a tweet, Yadav pointed out that international newspapers have been reporting about the increasing number of Covid-related deaths in the country. He said many nations have banned flights to India while many countries have directed their citizens to leave India.
“Because of the mismanagement of the BJP government, Covid deaths are being reported in newspapers and magazines around the world and our country’s global image has been tarnished,” the SP chief tweeted in Hindi.
He added, “People who lie publicly will now confiscate the property of these publications or impose sanctions on them.”
The former UP chief minister said even as the image of India has taken a beating, the BJP government continues to remain arrogant and instead of taking the opposition on board, the government is targeting the opposition parties. He alleged that instead of taking the people into confidence, the BJP government in UP is working with the sole objective of claiming the credit for the pandemic relief work. Yadav said that in all other pandemic-hit countries, the governments controlled the virus with people’s support.
Uttar Pradesh is one of the worst-hit states in the country. As per the Union Health Ministry, there are currently 3, 09,237 active cases in the state and 8,96,477 recoveries while 12,238 deaths have been reported so far.
