Alagiri a ‘Dada’, Stalin no Saint But DMK Will Support Him For All His Work: Swamy
New Delhi, Aug 14: Even as trouble looms over the DMK in the form of MK Alagiri claiming the support of insiders while the party gets ready to anoint MK Stalin as its chief, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy tried to make light of the situation on Tuesday. Speaking to ANI, Swamy said it was only natural to nurse sibling rivalry. He said, “Beton mein irshya hoti hai. Ek achchha kar raha hai, dusre ko jalan ho jati hai. Alagiri (MK Alagiri) jo hai, vo to koi rajnaitik nahi hai, vo to dada hai. Zameen hadap karna, dhamkaana, murder karna, yahi uska kaam hai (Brothers do have sibling rivalry. If one does well, the other is likely to get jealous. Alagiri is not a politician, he is a dada. Land-grabbing, threatening, murder, this is what he does.)”
If one thought Swamy was a Stalin fan, he dispelled those doubts too by adding, “Stalin bhi koi devta nahi hai, sadhu sant nahi hai. Lekin sangathan (DMK) mein uski bahut pakad hai, unhone saara jeevan abhi tak sangathan banane mein di, pitaji ke sath saari meetings vahi organise karte the. Party unke sath hi rahegi (It’s not like Stalin is a saint; he’s not. But he has a hold over the organisation (DMK). He has spent his entire life in strengthening the party. He used to organise all the meeting along with his father (M Karunanidhi). So the party will back him).”
On Monday, Alagiri had claimed that the real cadres were standing in his support and not in his brother’s (Stalin). He also accused Stalin of blocking his return into the DMK and selling party posts, saying that he was pained by what was happening inside the party. “My father’s true relatives are all are on my side. All the supporters in Tamil Nadu are on my side and are encouraging me only. Only time will give the answers…that is all I am willing to say now,” Alagiri said while paying homage to Karunanidhi at his memorial at the Marina Beach. Addressing the reporters, he also accused Stalin of not working even after being the working president of the party.
