At 10,682, UP reports further dip in cases
Uttar Pradesh reported a further dip in fresh Corona cases with 10,682 new cases in the last 24 hours while 24,837 patients recovered in the corresponding period. However, the casualties during the period rose to 311.
The maximum deaths were reported from Meerut (27), followed by 20 in Lucknow, 13 in Kanpur, 12 each in Chandauli & Basti, and 10 in Shahjahanpur.
Meerut witnessed the maximum number of fresh cases at 701. Lucknow reported 525 fresh cases but the recovery was around three times at 1,944. The active corona cases in the state capital also came down to 11,045.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said in Lucknow on Sunday that 2.67 lakh people were tested for Covid on Saturday and 10,682 tested positive. The recovery rate now stands at 88.92 per cent.
“Out of a total of 1.63 lakh active corona cases, 1.34 lakh patients are in home isolation while others are undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals. Under the ongoing surveillance exercise, 16.85 crore people in 3.50 crore households were surveyed through 6,20,896 teams,” he said.
Prasad said that the vaccination of people in the 18-44 years age bracket and those above 45 years was underway. “So far 1.16 crore people have been given the first dose of vaccine while 32.66 lakh people have been fully vaccinated. Those who got the first jab must also get the second one in time. People should use masks compulsorily, wash hands with soap and follow Covid protocol even after vaccination. From Monday onwards, the vaccination of people between 18 and 44 years will be carried out in 23 districts,” Prasad said.
