BJP MLA Kesar Singh Gangwar dies of Covid-19
Ruling BJP MLA from Nawabganj in Bareilly, Kesar Singh Gangwar died of Covid-19 at a private hospital in Noida on Wednesday. Gangwar is the third BJP MLA to have succumbed to the second wave of the deadly coronavirus within a week.
The Nawabganj MLA was admitted to the hospital in Noida a week ago, but he succumbed on Wednesday morning. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and state BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh, along with other BJP leaders, expressed grief over Gangwar’s demise.
Earlier on April 23, BJP MLA from Auraiya Sadar seat Ramesh Diwakar died at Meerut Medical College Hospital while Lucknow (West) BJP MLA Suresh Kumar Srivastava succumbed at SGPGI in Lucknow.
A pall of gloom descended on the families as Diwakar’s father had died of a heart attack after hearing the news of his son’s death while Srivastava’s wife also succumbed to Covid-19 within 48 hours of her husband’s death. During the first wave of Covid last year, two UP ministers — Chetan Chauhan and Kamla Rani Varun — had succumbed to coronavirus infection.
Meanwhile, sitting judge of the Allahabad High Court Virendra Srivastava also died due to Covid-19 at SGPGI in Lucknow on Wednesday. He was admitted to the hospital with several complications a week ago.
