Carlo Ancelotti clears air on leaving Real Madrid: ‘I don’t discuss my future now’ | Football News

Following a humiliating 5-1 loss to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League across both legs, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has come under significant criticism and pressure. Talks on him being replaced as Madrid manager have become promienent, with the Italian also being linked to the Brazil job.
Real’s season is not going throught the best of phases, given the painful UCL exit and four-point gap between them and La Liga leaders Barcelona. Despite recent setbacks, the manager did not seem dejected nor was he in any mood to speak on his future. As things stand, the Los Blancos are still in contention for two trophies – La Liga and the Copa del Rey, for which the final against Barcelona is scheduled for the 27th of April on Sunday.
Ancelotti and Co will come up against Barcelona twice in the space of two weeks, as they prepare to ride out a crucial and difficult part of their season. In a recent interview ahead of the club’s La Liga clash against Athletic Club, the manager was in no mood to speculate on his future. “We will evaluate the future at the end of the season, not now. Brazil? I don’t discuss my future now. Full focus on the two titles remaining”, said Ancelotti.

The 65-year-old has time and again been linked with taking the Brazil job. Ever since the Selecao started having trouble in the dugout, Ancelotti’s name has regularly been featured in discussions and rumors surrounding the next heir.
However, as if hinting at this being his last season, Ancelotti also thanked his stars for their efforts in his second stint at the club. “Let me thank all these players, as they gave me the chance to win 2 Champions League in 4 years”, said the manager. He also stressed that the club’s entire focus is on the La Liga title and Copa del Rey final, despite the painful loss to Arsenal still looming large above their heads.
Ancelotti’s contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires in 2026, although he has mentioned in the past that the decision may not be in his hands.
