Chouhan doles out sops in ‘Dil Se’
Bhopal: Doling out sops to people of the state, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced relaxation of physical fitness parameters in the recruitment of woman police constable. He also said Below Poverty Line (BPL) status will not be required for sanctioning pension to widows.
Chouhan made these populist announcements while addressing his Dil Se programme at AIR and Doordarshan on Sunday.
He also said the government will provide financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for marriage of widow. He called upon the people to encourage marriage of widows and root out the social evils like dowry and child marriages.
Chief minister announced to make available sanitary napkins in predominantly tribal blocks at 50% of the cost. Working couples posted at different places in government departments will be possibly posted at one place, he said.
To ensure nutrition and health of mothers and children, the Prime Minister Matru Vandana scheme will be launched. Chouhan said stringent law would be enacted soon to award capital punishment to the accused of rape. For molestation, the culprits would be given 10-year rigorous punishment. He said school buses will be equipped with CCTV to prevent eve-teasing.
Addressing his radio programme, he said provisions are being thought out not to give bail to accused in rape cases without listening to government pleader. Laws ensuring due share in the ancestral property would be also strictly implemented.
The limit of matching grant for women’s self help groups would be reduced from Rs one crore to Rs 50 lakh for micro finance activities. They will get additional grant of upto 3% on Rs 3 lakh.
