CM asks surveillance teams to make UP villages Covid-free
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tasked surveillance committees with making every village of Uttar Pradesh Covid-free under ‘Mera Gaon Corona Mukt Gaon’, an initiative launched by the state government to eradicate the deadly virus from rural pockets.
Yogi visited Deoria to review medical facilities in the district in the wake of the ongoing second corona wave and inspected a dedicated Covid hospital where an oxygen plant was recently set up. He instructed the authorities to ensure that there was no shortage of oxygen and also reviewed the working of Covid control room on the hospital campus. He monitored the complete medical system of the hospital wards through the CCTV cameras installed. Later, the CM also inspected the arrangements at the Integrated Control and Command Center and inquired about the facilities. During an interaction with Katrari villagers in Deoria on Wednesday, the chief minister said, “The surveillance committees have successfully implemented the state government’s T3 mechanism against the second wave of COVID-19. Active surveillance committees played a major role in the door-to-door screening of the people to curb the cases. Timely identification of the symptoms, distribution of medical kits and isolation help in keeping the spread.”
Yogi also asked gram pradhan Sapna Mishra to ensure that any new entry in the village from outside was quarantined with the help of the committee and make residents aware about encephalitis, avoid open defecation and keep the village clean. He later visited the PHC in Majhgawan to inspect the ongoing vaccination campaign.
Addressing mediapersons, the chief minister said that under the T3 mantra, the state has been successful in tackling the second wave of corona. He said that on April 26, the state reported around 38,000 cases – the maximum to date, which was followed by a consistent slide.
“In the last 24 hours, around 3,371 cases were reported and active Covid cases came down from 3.10 lakh to 62,271. Besides, the state’s recovery rate has surpassed 95 per cent and the recovery rate in Deoria has increased to 93 per cent. Also, UP conducted as many as 3.59 lakh Covid tests in the last 24 hours, thereby setting a national record,” he said.
On ensuring uninterrupted supply of oxygen, Yogi said that the state has become self-sufficient in providing oxygen for Covid patients and hospitals. “We have already provided 20,000 oxygen concentrators till now and 20,000 more are on the way. Four new oxygen plants will be set up in Deoria,” he said.
“The state government is gearing up to deal with diseases like encephalitis and dengue that occur mainly during the rainy season due to mosquitoes and water contamination. An action plan is being prepared in this regard. We have to go door to door in every district prone to encephalitis and provide medicine kits in advance,” he added.
Regarding preparations to combat the possible third corona wave, the CM said, “There is already a 15-bed PICU hospital in Deoria. We have also given our consent for setting up of a 20-bed PICU facility in the district. A mini PICU will also be established here. Vaccines for the age group of 12-18 years are coming soon. We will vaccinate everyone.”
