CM invites PM to attend concluding ceremony of Ekatm Yatra in Omkareshwar

BHOPAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the concluding ceremony of the Shankaracharya Ekatma Yatra at Omkareshwar on January 22. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met the Prime Minister at his official residence in New Delhi, on Wednesday and invited him for the visit.

Chouhan said that the yatra, which began from four places in the state on December 19 to collect metal for the construction of 108-feet statue of Adishankaracharya, would culminate at Omkareshwar on January 22 after passing through Indore, Dewas, Rajgarh, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Gwalior and Datia. It will cover a distance of 2,175 km while crossing 12 districts. Chouhan said a public awareness campaign has also been launched during the yatra.
The chief minister also discussed various pro-people measures being taken by the state government and apprised the PM about Bhawantar Bhugtan Yojana for the welfare of farmers. He said the government has already given benefit to farmers on kharif crops. If necessary, the scheme would be extended to other crops during the harvest of rabi crops.
Chouhan also informed the PM about the state government’s drive to replace LPG cylinders with solar gas stoves. The Prime Minister advised him to form a task force to address the grievances of the customers. “Madhya Pradesh will form a task force for promoting clean cooking. The task force will also inform people living in rural areas about the ‘Ujjwala’ scheme run by the Centre,” the chief minister tweeted.
The chief minister also discussed in detail the progress and status of various public welfare measures under ambitious schemes, including Narmada Sewa Mission, PM Awas Yojana, start-up and stand up initiatives, Mudra scheme, Swachhta Abhiyan and Ujjawala Yojana, according to an official statement.
