‘Defend yourself’: University of South Carolina warns students of active shooter at Columbia campus | World News

The students of University of South Carolina have been warned the adminration on Sunday about a possible active shooter near the library on the Columbia campus, however, there were no reports of any shots being fired on the campus, reported Associated Press.
The university sent the alert to students about 6:45pm on Sunday and ordered them to evacuate the area near the Thomas Cooper Library, and seek shelter at some place and barricade themselves if necessary.
The suspect had been described in the alert sent the university adminration which says a white male suspect, approximately 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall, wearing black pants.

“Defend yourself if you encounter the suspect. Obey public safety officials’ commands,” the alert stated. Though it did not confirm whether any shots were fired the suspect.
Around 38,000 students attend the university which is situated in the heart of Columbia, South Carolina where 145,000 people reside.
