Trump says Attorney General Pam Bondi should release any ‘credible’ information on Epstein | World News

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to release “whatever she thinks is credible” on deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein case, as the Republican leader faces a rare backlash from the Make America Great Again (MAGA) supporters after he sought to draw a line under the case.
Trump, while speaking to reporters outside the White House, said he received a “very quick” briefing on the Jeffrey Epstein case from the FBI and the Justice Department. The said briefing took place before the FBI and DOJ released a joint memo last week on Epstein files, which created a furore in the political corridors of Washington.
During the memo release last week, Attorney General Pam Bondi said that there was no evidence that Epstein kept a “client l” or was blackmailing powerful figures as claimed in earlier reports. Bondi faced backlash from Trump’s political base over lack of transparency in the matter.

Epstein died in a US prison in 2019 while awaiting federal trial, and it was adjudged as a “suicide” the Department of Justice and FBI in their findings.

While praising the attorney general for handling the Epstein case, Trump on Tuesday told reporters “She’s (Bondi) handled it very well, and it’s going to be up to her. Whatever she thinks is credible, she should release.”
When asked an ABC News reporter whether his name appeared in any of the Epstein files, Trump responded saying, “No, no”. “Only really bad people, including the fake news, want to keep something like this going,” the US president added.
Bondi, when asked about Trump’s comments, said she hasn’t seen the president’s comments but added that the Justice Department and FBI’s memo “speaks for itself.”Story continues below this ad
