Scotland’s Edinburgh Airport halted all arrivals and departures on Thursday after an air traffic control IT failure brought operations to an abrupt stop around 08:30 local time, AP reported. Some passengers reported being stranded on aircraft waiting on the runway as officials scrambled to fix the outage.
In a statement, the airport said flights had been suspended due to an IT problem with its air traffic control provider, adding that teams were working to resolve the issue “as soon as possible.” Travellers were advised to contact their airlines for the latest updates.
Edinburgh, Scotland’s busiest airport, handled about 15.7 million passengers in 2024, making it the sixth busiest airport in the UK.
