Aishwarya Rai Bachchan took Bollywood by storm with her last film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and now after a year, the 44-year-old actor is back on the film sets. This time the diva will be seen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Fanney Khan. From a quirky title to Aishwarya’s first look to Rajkummar Rao’s injury to Anil Kapoor’s salt-and-pepper look, the musical has been in news for the longest time.

So before Fanney Khan hit the screens, here are five things that we already know about the musical.

Based on a Dutch film Everybody’s Famous!
Mehra’s next has its inspiration from a Dutch film, Everybody’s Famous! The film revolves around a father who dreams of his teenager daughter becoming a singer, but somewhere her weight acts a hindrance. Desperate for her daughter to get some attention from music industry, he holds a famous singer hostage.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turns singer
Aishwarya is all set to break from her current on-screen image in Mehra’s Fanney Khan. While her last few releases (Jazbaa and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil) saw her in serious roles, Fanney Khan will see Aishwarya play a glamorous singer . Prerna Arora, who is co-producing the film with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, told Mumbai Mirror, “Everyone will be surprised by Ash’s turn. Her character is the complete opposite of her serious turns in Jazbaa and Sarbjit. In our film, she is the spunky, enchanting female protagonist.”
Aishwarya to romance Rajkummar Rao
Last year, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor set the screen on fire with their sizzling chemistry in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. And now a year later, the 44-year-old actor is set to romance a younger actor once again in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Fanney Khan. This time, Aishwarya will share screen space with Rajkummar Rao in the musical.
Theme of body shaming
Fanney Khan is not just a musical, but a film with a strong message. Confirming the news, producer Prerna said, “The film is not just about cool music. Aishwarya ma’am, who is the epitome of beauty and a role model, is going to make youngsters aware about body shaming. Through her character, she will deliver the powerful social message that body shaming is unacceptable.”
Anil-Aishwarya’s reunion after 18 years
Back in 1999, Aishwarya and Anil came together for Taal, and 18 years later, they have reunited for another musical, Fanney Khan. The two are currently shooting for the film in Mumbai, and a picture from the film sets have surfaced on social media. And their fans can’t keep calm after seeing them together after so long. If Aishwarya plays a singer in the film, Anil will essay the role of a father.
