Armed man inside US’ North Carolina hospital points gun at staff, fatally shot police | World News

A man, who had entered a hospital’s emergency room in North Carolina with a gun pointing at staff and sheriff, was fatally shot the deputies on Tuesday.
The law enforcement authorities, who said that the man pointed the gun at them, were called to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City at 1:18 am (local time) on Tuesday after calls were made that a man had entered the hospital’s emergency room while possessing a hand gun, informed Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office.
The gun-wielding man, whose identity was not revealed until then, pointed his gun at several hospital staff as the security guard tried to restrain him until the deputies arrived, officials said, reported Associated Press.

The suspect was found in the emergency triage room the law enforcement officers upon their arrival, and three of the deputies shot at the man after he pointed his weapon at them, officials added.
The suspected man was immediately given medical treatment, however, he was later pronounced dead at the scene the hospital adminration.
The sheriff’s office added that the security guard who tried to restrain the suspect during its attempt to point a gun at the hospital staff was injured and received medical treatment at the hospital. None of the officers involved in the shooting were injured.
During a press briefing, Sentara Albemarle Medical Center president Teresa Watson said that the security guard was unarmed during his altercation with the gun owning man.Story continues below this ad
Due to the pending investigation, Pasquotank Sheriff Tommy Wooten declined to provide any details of the suspect or the motive behind the incident.
