Floodlight failure halts IND vs ENG 2nd ODI in Cuttack with India batting on 48/0

A faulty floodlight at Cuttack halted the second India versus England One-Day International on Sunday evening with the Indian cricket team batting on 48/0. After a pause of nearly half an hour, the match has restarted. More importantly, there is no change in the playing conditions, with the hosts still needing to chase down 305.

The incident happened in the seventh over of the second innings with India chasing England’s 305-run target. After hanging around for a few minutes at the ground, India’s openers Rohit Sharma (batting on 29 from 18 balls) and Shubman Gill (batting on 17 off 19) left the field while a fully kitted up Virat Kohli also waiting around on the boundary ropes.

The floodlight failure will irk the Indian team, who were off to a flyer. India captain Rohit Sharma was seen having a word with the umpires before walking off. While the host association was trying to fix the floodlight, Shubman and Virat Kohli were spotted chatting away near the boundary ropes with Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh and Morne Morkel giving them company. Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, was not present.
