HTC U12 Life launched with dual tone finish, dual rear cameras and stereo speakers
TC launched the mid-tier HTC U12 Life on Thursday as a follow-up to last year’s HTC U11 Life. The HTC U12 Life brings notable changes in design and hardware over its predecessor, and at the same time, unlike HTC’s top-tier HTC U11 and HTC U12, this one has a headphone jack. HTC is also not giving in to the growing notch trend yet like Samsung, which is good in a way.
HTC has been experimenting with design, particularly with glass, since the HTC U11 and the results have paid off well. The HTC U11 and the recently launched HTC U12 have been praised for their stand-out all-glass design although the company has been a little late in joining the near edge-to-edge screen bandwagon. The HTC U12 has a new design, different from HTC’s current batch. The phone comes with a unique dual tone finish where in the lower half kind of reminds you of plastic, while the upper half shines through like glass. Although the HTC U12 Life has a dual tone finish, it still manages to reflect light differently depending on how you look at it. It will be available in as many as two colours: twilight purple and moonlight blue.
In terms of hardware specs, the HTC U12 Life comes with a tall 6-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor under the hood. The phone comes with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage which is also expandable. The dual-SIM HTC U12 Life runs Android 8.1 Oreo with HTC’s custom Sense UI on top. Although not technically an Android One device, being an HTC phones means the HTC U12 Life runs a near stock version of Android with no duplicate apps, with handy HTC customisation options on top like a dedicated theme engine and BlinkFeed news aggregator.
The HTC U12 Life comes with vertically aligned dual cameras on the rear consisting of one 16MP sensor and another 5MP sensor for depth sensing. On the front, the HTC U12 Life comes with a 13MP camera with LED flash.
The HTC U12 Life packs a 3,600mAh battery, and comes with dual stereo speakers and a headphone jack.
The HTC U12 Life has been launched at a price of 299 Pounds which roughly translates to R 27,533 and it will be available for buying in Europe in late September.
