iDEATE Unconvention gives a new platform to budding entrepreneurs

A business model competition held in Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) gave the budding entrepreneurs from various business incubators and independent start-ups a big and new platform to spread their wings of innovation. After a nationwide hunt of several applicants from B-schools, leading start-up incubation centres and independent start-ups, about seven teams were shortlisted. The competition was primarily for start-up ideas with a visible social impact and scalable for-profit model.

Director of IIFM, Tejender Singh maintains, “The iDeate unconvention focuses on what drives the individual to pursue social entrepreneurship and the hurdles faced during implementation and operation of such plans.”

The event also saw panel discussion on social entrepreneurship with panellists from leading enterprises like Nishant Mahatre (Co-founder, Gramophone), J.P. Soni (Founder HDLS) and Archana (Miracles Village Pvt. Ltd.). From a tough round of presentations and discussions two winners emerged Meenakshi Gupta Jain from Helpers4U, while Kapil and Kunal with innovative farming practices model for Smart Kisan were the runners up. Student coordinator for the event Tanushka Ojha shares, “This session was an important learning session for students of IIFM as we were in the company of such brilliant and innovative minds. Moreover, coordinating and communicating with the participants from all over the country also gave the student body a glimpse of the how the industry is faring. This knowledge will help us in our future professions.”
