India will look to fix their batting woes to bolster their net run rate when they take on bottom-placed Sri Lanka in their third and penultimate Group A match of the T20 Women’s World Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. It has not been smooth sailing for the Indians in the showpiece event so far, having lost to New Zealand 58 runs in their tournament-opener and then scampering home in 18.5 overs against arch-rivals Pakan while chasing a modest 105. India’s main problem in the tournament so far is the performance of their batters, and all eyes will be on an otherwise free-flowing opening combination of Shafali Verma and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana who have struggled to give any momentum.
