Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) shared the images on Twitter along with a selfie clicked by Aditya-L1.

India’s ambitious Aditya-L1 spacecraft mission today sent back images of the Earth and the Moon as it moved towards its destination Lagrangian Point (L1), 1.5 million kilometers from Earth.

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) shared the images on Twitter along with a selfie clicked by Aditya-L1.

Aditya-L1, destined for the Sun-Earth L1 point, will take selfies and images of the Earth and the Moon,” the Bengaluru-based national space agency said.

The images show the VELC (Visible Emission Line Coronagraph) and SUIT (Solar Ultraviolet Imager) instruments on the Aditya-L1 camera on September 4, 2023. The mission took off from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh on September 2. The spacecraft has already completed two Earth-bound orbits and will complete two more before entering a transfer orbit to the Lagrange point L1. Aditya-L1 is expected to enter the planned orbit at the L1 point in 125 days.
