IPL 2025 Orange and Purple Cap Update After PBKS vs MI IPL Qualifier 2 Match: After their stunning win to reach a second final in 17 years, Punjab Kings’ captain Shreyas Iyer’s stupendous knock powered him past 600 runs in a season for the first time following the victory over Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Iyer’s rollicking 41-ball 87 powered Punjab to a five-wicket win and ending Mumbai’s unbeaten run in the IPL when it comes to 200-plus target defences. Laced with five fours and nine maximums, Iyer was deservingly awarded the Player of the Match as he narrowed the lead on the top five players in the Orange Cap race, taking his stocks to 603 runs in 16 innings. Iyer has the highest strike rate (175.80) of all six players with 600-plus runs this season.

Meanwhile, Mumbai’s Suryakumar Yadav failed to better Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan to clinch the top spot in the leaderboard after scoring 44 in the match at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Securing his best-ever IPL season with 16 25-plus scores in succession, Suryakumar closed his season with 717 runs, averaging 65.18 at a whopping 167.91 strike rate.
