‘Krrish 4 set for 2027 release, production in full swing’: Rakesh Roshan shares key details on Hrithik Roshan’s directorial debut | Bollywood News

After generating considerable buzz earlier this year with the announcement that Hrithik Roshan will be directing the next instalment in the Krrish franchise, producer and veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has now shared further updates, including a tentative release timeline and key production details. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rakesh Roshan revealed that Krrish 4 is finally moving forward after overcoming earlier financial hurdles.
“The script didn’t take a lot of time. The pressure was the budgeting. Now that we have an idea of the definite budget required for this film, we’ll be starting the film,” he said. He also confirmed that the team is aiming for a 2027 release. “The work is going on in full swing. We are going to start shooting the middle of next year. This is because the pre-production is much more extensive for this film. Hence, we have to be well prepared before we go on floors. We plan to release it in 2027.”

Back in March, Rakesh Roshan had taken to Instagram to make a surprising announcement, Hrithik Roshan would be stepping behind the camera for the very first time to direct Krrish 4. The news took fans surprise, given that Rakesh Roshan has directed all previous films in the franchise. Hrithik, for his part, has expressed both excitement and apprehension about taking on this new role. Speaking at a fan event, he said: “You don’t know how nervous I am! I need all the encouragement that I possibly can get.”
The Krrish series remains one of Indian cinema’s most successful and beloved superhero sagas. It began in 2003 with Koi… Mil Gaya, which introduced audiences to Rohit Mehra and his extra-terrestrial friend, Jadoo. The story continued with Krrish, released in 2006, marking the debut of India’s first mainstream superhero, and later with Krrish 3 in 2013, which became a major commercial success, grossing ₹374 crore worldwide. While official plot details remain under wraps, speculation is rife that Krrish 4 will explore the concept of time travel, and could potentially mark the return of fan-favourite character Jadoo.
